Technical Description
Device type / operating principle
-
The HD2015 is a rain gauge based on the tipping bucket principle.
-
Rainfall is collected by the cone and directed into the bucket. Once the bucket fills with a preset volume, it tips, empties, and generates an impulse via a reed contact. These impulses are counted to calculate total precipitation.
-
The resolution (rainfall per tip) can be selected at order: 0.1 mm, 0.2 mm, or 0.5 mm.

Installation & Maintenance
-
The device should be installed in an open area away from obstacles.
-
For measurement accuracy, it must be mounted perfectly level (built-in bubble level provided).
-
The cone filter prevents leaves and debris but requires periodic cleaning.
-
Special care is needed for power connections in the heated model.
-
Output impulses must be collected by a datalogger or pulse counter.
-
During transport the bucket is locked; unlock it at installation.
